Under the tourists refund scheme introduced by the government for expats entering into the UAE and are not on resident visa can claim the vat refund back when they are exiting from the UAE the amount of vat they have paid by putting the tax invoices in the kiosk placed by the company planet at different air, sea ports and land borders.
According to the VAT Law Cabinet Decision No. 41 of 2018 on introducing the tax refunds for Tourists Scheme and Federal Tax Authority Decision No. 02 of 2018 dated 26/03/2018 has finalised the following things.
- According to article 1 of the above law the maximum amount of vat refund under the tax refund for tourist scheme is 7000 AED per overseas person for 24 hours.
- According to the article 2 of the above law the decision is implemented from 1 Jun 2019
